The 2026 Winter Coat Drive is Here!
Dear Friends,
The 3rd Annual HARK’s Angels Coat and Winter Wear Drive is officially underway, and this year, we’re expanding our reach to help even more children in Buncombe County stay warm this winter!
In previous years, our drive focused on children in foster care. This year, we’re growing that effort in two important ways. In addition to the 300+ children in court-ordered foster care, we’re providing winter clothing for youth aging out of foster care and, at the request of school social workers, students experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity in Buncombe County Schools and Asheville City Schools.
That means we’re working to help meet the needs of more than 1,200 children and youth. To better serve teenagers, we’ve also added an alternative winter wear option featuring items like warm hoodies, sweatpants, and leggings.
Children facing foster care, homelessness, or housing instability already have a lot to navigate through no fault of their own. Something as simple as a warm coat or a comfortable hoodie can make a real difference in helping them feel cared for and ready to face the day.

Add a gift note if you'd like, but please leave items unwrapped.
We'll pair coats with matching hats and gloves, also available on the registry, and social workers will personally deliver them to children in foster care. Winter wear for students experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity will be delivered to the Buncombe County Schools and Asheville City Schools Student Resource Centers for distribution.
